ExoWave – Powering the future, driven by the ocean

Our Technology

The core technology invented by Exowave, converts ocean wave power into hydraulic power, which can be used to generate zero emission electricity or freshwater by integration with hydro turbines or reverse osmosis systems.

Water is the energy carrier which reduces technical complexity of the offshore electrical equipment while increasing lifespan, reliability and profitability.

The unparalleled advantage of the Exowave technology, is the submerged Wave Energy Converter (WEC) which is a wave powered high pressure seawater pump installed on the seabed.

WECs are designed for the harsh marine environment and available in various capacities and water depths between 3m and 45m, depending on the application.

The WEC shown on this photo is designed for 14m waters.

For power generation, clusters of wave energy converters supply pressurized seawater to conventional hydro turbines for min. 10MW.

For power generation, clusters of wave energy converters supply pressurized seawater to conventional hydro turbines for min. 10MW power generation. Turbines can be installed offshore or onshore as most convenient and cost efficient, considering for instance maintenance and access to the power grid.

WECs installed near shore are also deployed for supplying pressurized seawater to onshore, off-grid and stand-alone  desalination units.

ExoMare is the Exowave product line of modular wave powered stand-alone desalination units for the low-capacity range 4-20m3/day of freshwater.

The ocean is powerful – and our technology is built to match it

Designed for shallow to intermediate water depths, Exowave unlocks vast areas and applications previously inaccessible for wave power.

  • Co-location increases power generation from the plot
  • Reduces specific cost of permitting
  • Reduces specific cost of installation and maintenance

How it Works

Exowave has pioneered and patented technology for converting kinetic energy of wave motions into a practical, sustainable, and continuous supply of pressurized seawater for various applications onshore as well as offshore.

Our Wave Energy Converter (WEC) consists of the a few key components:

Pressure Control

of the hydraulic system is adjustable for optimized energy production at varying wave heights

Wave Receiver Configuration

is optimized for match with natural wave frequency and extracts highest conversion ratio of wave energy

Water as an Energy Carrier

allows for scaling in cluster for optimum hydro turbine capacity and in to arrays for large scale plant power capacity.

Shallow Water Advantage

Designed for installation close to shore and integration with offshore wind sites.
